Start Up

I think it is the process of creation that seems to float my boat. I have always enjoyed the excitement, flexibility, and sheer fright associated with the start-up of a new business. Organizing it, putting the team together, getting the physical plant ready to knock 'em dead, setting up successful processes, testing out the marketing, and all the heart stopping work to get it all ready to go and then, executing the plan. Wow!!! What a rush!!

Well, during that start-up time there is a certain isolation that takes place because of the focus you are a slave to. So, shortly after getting a business rolling and on it's way to increased profits, I was out and about, dropping in on old clients, associates, and just basically making the rounds when an associate I was dropping by to see asked me if I had any old fishing gear to auction on Ebay.

Well, I am a pack hound meaning, "I save all sorts of stuff". So I had these two old rods that had sat for over 35 years doing nothing. So I gave them to him to auction. I netted over 200 bucks for these back shelf losers and I just had to learn more. It seems that Jim Martin and Jim Bushnell of Ebins.com were using Ebay and thought I ought to try it.

So I read a little and studied some manuals and intro's and decided to auction off a lot of different attic type stuff that had some value, and some that didn't. Not a real fortune maker but it was better than some old garage sale.

Well, it seems that after telling a few other associates about Ebay and the potential there, that a few businesses looking to recoup some losses on overstock merchandise and excess inventory approached me about auctioning this stuff on Ebay.

That was a year ago and although not a full time income, it is a decent enough income stream for my clients and me. With a little more time and effort it could quite easily be a full time income but for me, that is not always possible but we are working at it slowly and if it continues to be a winner we will expand our effort.

Well, that is how it started. It is fun and in many portions of the process I have automated it. I am writing this for the new website that will help me organize all the materials and pass it on. Keep your eyes peeled to this section as we update and review what's happening. .
